Pens

The pens I use the most – from top to bottom:
Pilot Executive Hi-Tec C – 0.3mm. I start all my sketches with this pen. Never leaves my side. Tough metal body takes a lot abuse – I have dropped it, swam with it, and generally beaten it up. This is my third one. The point is delicate but the refills are cheap. Ink is fairly waterproof though not as black as I would like – this is its only fault in my mind.
Rotring Rapidograph – 0.13mm. Before the Pilot came along this was the only pen I used for sketching including a six month travel period in which I consumed about six of these. Biggest weaknesses are the delicacy of the point and the plastic body. Someone needs to produce this in a metal body.
Rotring Rapidograph – 0.7mm. Used to give my some line variety.Loaded with Noodler’s Eel Black ink.
Kaweco AL Sport – Fine. A new addition so I am experimenting with ink. So far a great writing pen and a so-so drawing tool. Ink cartridges are short so I go through a cartridge very fast.
Lamy Safari – Extra Fine. Have broken a yellow one because the plastic body will only stand up to so much abuse of which I give plenty. Cap has a tendency to come off so I keep this in my bag. Gives big fat wet lines so I use it to fill in large areas and for some line variety. Filled with Noodler’s Bulletproof Black ink.
The Rotring color coded rings are switched so the blue one is really 0.13mm and the purple one is really a 0.7mm. Confusing even to me.
